About Y Giridhar Appaji Nag

Hi! I am Yasa Giridhar Appaji Nag and you can call me Giridhar or Giri. I was born almost 3 decades ago on a spring afternoon in the West GodAvari district of the rice bowl of south India, aka Andhra Pradesh; soon after which, I was moved to Hyderabad - the city of shiny pearls, aromatic Biriyani, sweet Irani chai and its general bindaas Hyderabadiness.

Hyderabad was where I went to Dr. S. Hussain Zaheer Memorial High School and played cricket & football (the one that is actually a ball and has got something to do with the feet) till late in the evening. Pre-university life (in part) at Little Flower Junior College and (the rest of it) at St. Mary's Junior College was quite different, as I was mugging away to glory and preparing to appear for a popular engineering entrance examination. Then it was four amazing years (from 1996 to 2000) as an irresponsible undergraduate in the department of computer science & engineering at IIT Guwahati. Fabulous place that was. Actually, most of that time was spent in the college lawns and labs; and also in the city streets searching for places to escape from Pervez and Madan's mess meals (which, by the way, a hungry soul would rate as coitus interruptus).

As a part of the (successful) plot to get rid of 76 incorrigible creatures that were pursuing engineering at IITG, I was awarded an engineering degree. A few weeks later I found myself working at Hughes Software Systems in Gurgaon near New Delhi. Over an year at HSS, and I felt it was time to move on (Yeah! feel free to blame them, they gave me a watch as a gift after completing one year there, and I was imaginative enough to interpret that as "dude, it is time now"). The UbiNetics chapter after that lasted for 2.5 years. Now I am (like someone quipped once) a code coolie, at NetApp in Bangalore.
